Willis Towers Watson (WTW) has appointed two investment industry veterans, Mary Boyle and Bob Tyley, as senior investment consultants, to meet the growing demand for insurance investment solutions.
Mary Boyle is an investment professional with more than 20 years of experience. She joins from Just Retirement, where she was interim head of investment strategy, prior to which she was a Solvency II expert for a FTSE 100 insurer's investments team.
Bob Tyley has more than 30 years of industry experience in insurance-related roles at Morgan Stanley, Deutsche Bank and Goldman Sachs among others.
Both join as the firm is developing its investment advisory and solutions business for insurers, said Keith Goodby, head of the insurance investment solutions group. "Insurance companies around the world are having to optimise their investment portfolios in a highly regulated, competitive and low-return environment. As such they are increasingly seeking our advice on how to maximise risk-adjusted returns and to define and manage investment risk and governance as well as using our portfolio solutions."
Willis Towers Watson, a global advisory, broking, and risk solutions company, was formed on 4 January following the merger of brokerage Willis and advisory firm Towers Watson.
Towers Watson last year had $60bn in insurance assets under advisory (IAR, 11 November 2015, Consultant-advised global insurance assets stand at over $500bn).
WTW's investment business has more than $2.2trn in assets under advisory and more than $75bn of assets under management.
