Manulife Asset Management has hired Jason Fromer as managing director and head currency trader, a new position at the firm.
The appointment was effective 6 July. Based in the firm's Boston office, Fromer reports to John Addeo, senior managing director and deputy CIO, US fixed income.
Fromer "will round out our global currency trading capability, working closely with our strategic fixed-income team," said Addeo. "In addition to his strong buy-side and sell-side relationships, Jason has experience in trading system development, which is important to us as the complexity of our product suite and trading capability continues to expand."
Fromer has extensive product knowledge in derivative markets, commodities, currencies and debt. Most recently he was with State Street Global Markets where he was a VP of foreign exchange sales.
Last month, Manulife Asset Management named Michael Reid to the newly-created role of senior strategist, pension solutions, and added three senior people to Manulife Asset Management Private Markets.
The firm also last month appointed Claude Chene as global head of distribution, based in London.
