While the overall investment returns from Lloyd's have remained solidly positive since 2016, its underwriting results have not. - thanks largely to skilful investment and financial officers and the asset managers they delegate to on the one hand, and a slew of natural catastrophes battering syndicate underwriting teams on the other hand.
Lloyd's emphasises the investment result is an outcome, not a plan. In the short term at least, this chart puts a question mark against this argument.
