Increasingly insurers are committing to transitioning their investment portfolios to net-zero GHG emissions by 2050 consistent with a maximum temperature rise of 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.
Indeed, insurers form the largest member group in the Net-Zero Asset Owner Alliance, 21 out of the 46 members. But before one can come out publicly pledging to reach net-zero, the case must build internally.
The first webinar in our net-zero series will explore how best to 'sell' the idea internally, what are the pushbacks, and how to take the first few steps in that journey.
This webinar will consider:
- What drives net-zero ambition? Is it really a choice for insurers, or the inevitable path the world is taking?
- What are the operational and commercial implications?
- Does the investment team set up needs to change?
- How does one first assess the GA to then set up net-zero targets?
- How does one decide to set up a timeline for targets and interim targets, and update on the company's Net Zero ambitions?
Speakers:
- Chad Park, VP of sustainability, The Co-operators
- Hayley Rees, head of investment strategy, pension insurance corporation
- Moderator: David Walker, senior journalist, Insurance Asset Risk.
