Allianz has appointed Jacqueline Hunt, the former head of Prudential's EMEA business, as leader of its asset management and US life insurance divisons.
She takes over from Jay Ralph, who is leaving Allianz after 20 years at his own request to devote more time to his family.
Allianz Asset Management is the holding company for the asset management business of Allianz, with around €1.8trn ($1.98trn) of assets under management and more than 5,000 employees worldwide. It is comprised of two separate investment management companies: Allianz Global Investors and Pimco.
Hunt held the position of CFO at Aviva, Norwich Union and Standard Life, and spent two years heading up Prudential's insurance business in the UK, continental Europe and Africa. She left Prudential last November. Her appointment at Allianz will take effect from 1 July.
Allianz also announced that Günther Thallinger will take over responsibility for investment management and global life and health from Maximilian Zimmerer, who is retiring at the end of this year.
Thallinger currently serves as CEO of Allianz Investment Management and is responsible for €640bn ($710bn) in assets. He will join the board on 1 January 2017 and become its youngest member.
Allianz Investment Management is responsible for steering the investment of premiums earned by Allianz insurance companies worldwide in the life/health as well as the property/casualty segment.
