Dai-ichi Life invests in World Bank bond for UNICEF

04 March 2021

Dai-ichi Life is the lead investor of a $100m bond issued by the World Bank, with half of the proceeds going to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the other half to International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) to support the World Bank in its sustainable development activities.

Each organisation will be responsible for the repayment and coupon of their own portion and the maturity stands at five years.

The financing will help the agency’s efforts in the 18 countries targeted for aid on this occasion, and proceeds will include support for the supply of vaccines to children, including COVID-19 vaccines; the improvement of access to sanitation facilities; and support for the provision of educational opportunities.
