ASR buys Dutch wind farm from Swedish government

10 May 2021

ASR has purchased a wind farm in the Netherlands from Vattenfall, a Swedish power company owned by the Government of Sweden, for an undisclosed sum.

The Jaap Rodenburg wind farm has the 10 wind turbines, which will be replaced by new, more powerful ones. ASR will take over eight of them, while the remaining two will be transferred to local energy cooperative Almeerse Wind after their construction.

Building the new turbines will start this month, to make them operational by the end of this year.

ASR was one of the Dutch firms, including insurers, that asked its government last year to embed sustainability into recovery from COVID-19.
