Zurich takes top spot as the winner of Insurance Asset Risk's Responsible investor of the year - re/insurer Award, due to its impact investing approach, its climate solutions financing, and its transition engagements.
Zurich has committed to transitioning its own investment portfolios to net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 and has challenged itself to new emission reduction targets for 2030: including reducing the emission intensity of its listed equity portfolio and its corporate bonds by 55% and of its real estate portfolio by 45%.
In impact investments, Zurich is aiming to build a portfolio that helps save 5 million metric tons of CO2 equivalent emissions and benefits 5 million people every year. And, on engagement, in 2024, Zurich focused on companies with heavy emissions to understand the company's current emission intensity and their transition plans.
For these reasons, Zurich wins 2025's Responsible investor of the Year - re/insurer Award.
