The Insurance Women's Investment Network (IWIN) was established in November 2013 by Allstate, the Carlyle Group, Prudential, Willis Towers Watson and Wellington Management.
It aimed to create a forum for experienced women and allies dedicated to the investment of insurance general account assets.
In 2015, IWIN launched the Women's Insurance Investment Network (WIIN), the European affiliate.
Both organisations have over 700 members, incorporating manifold functions like insurance general accounts, including insurance CEOs, CIOs, analysts, asset managers, consultants, legal, and operational participants.
The groups have hosted five events in the past year with over 350 attendees. Partners include Guardian Life and Prudential, as well as other industry organisations such as the FHLBank System and CFA Societies in Chicago, Iowa and New York.
Speakers have included a CIO of a global P&C company, head of alternatives for a global life insurer, head of strategy at a leading P&C insurer, and senior leaders from global asset managers.
The network has also recently launched a job posting forum to promote new opportunities in the insurance industry, and increase visibility to IWIN members.
For putting words into action and helping pave the way for greater female involvement in all echelons of the insurance business, IWIN wins the diversity and inclusion initiative of the year award.
